wie eine Maid im Tollhaus laut anstimmt ihre Klag:
Sie riß an ihren Ketten und sie schrie so jämmerlich:

»O meine schlimmen Eltern, sie waren so gemein:
Sie zwangen ihn zur See hinaus, das sollt das Ende sein.

Aus Stroh flecht ich ein Krönchen und schmücke es gar fein.

Doch gerad als sie so weinte, da ging ihr Schatz an Land.
Er hört, sie ist im Tollhaus, da ist er schnell gerannt,
und als durch das Portal er trat, da weint sie bitterlich:

Er starrte seine Liebste an, das Stroh in ihrem Haar,
und reute jeden Tag, den er zur See gefahren war.
Er fiel ihr um den bleichen Hals und schwor dann inniglich:
»Ich lieb mein Lieb, allweil ich weiß: Mein Liebster liebet mich.«
