bookmark_borderFilkers of Cambreadth

Guitars flash, weird chords swing,
chairs have built a malformed ring
bardic circling is just great,
circle turns like a wheel of fate.
Some brave filkers sing with glee,
know that filking’s all ’bout ME
Others yet would rather die:
How Many of You Are Too Damn Shy!

They grow pale as the circle turns,
Many a cheek that blushes and burns.
Eyes are staring at the floor,
Just How Fast Can You Reach The Door!
Fleeing yet is all in vain,
It’s Filk till You’re No Longer Sane
Stop the whining, give it a try:
How Many of You Are Too Damn Shy!

There’s this phrase none wants to hear:
I Didn’t Sing For Over A Year
This Is the First I Ever Writ –
Well just try, have a go at it.
Don’t give a damn on how it sounds,
Just sing along on the circle grounds.
Make us laugh or make us cry:
How Many of You Are Too Damn Shy!

Dawn has broke, it’s still not o’er,
Some are sleeping on the floor.
Ten hours filking took their toll,
Of those who filked with heart and soul.
No one here will chop off your head,
Filk along or go to bed.
Sing your song, don’t tell us why –
How Many of You Are Too Damn Shy!

Guitars flash, weird chords swing,
Some chairs are left to form a ring
Bardic circling still is great,
Circle turns till it’s far too late
We brave filkers croak with glee,
Know that filking’s all ’bout ME,
Raise your voice and call the cry,
How Many of You Are Too Damn Shy!

Well we’re fine Filk singers, we got golden fingers
but there’s hardly anyone who’ll know
that we sing about heroes, faeries, dragons and toads
for some laughter and some hearts that’ll glow.
You see, we’re still lacking fame, and we know who’s to blame
that there’s no groupies to scream and to shout:
For there is no getting richer if we won’t get our picture
On the cover of the »Let’s Filk About«.

Let’s Filk About – Wanna see my picture on the cover
Lets Filk About – wanna buy twelve copies for my mother
Let’s Filk About – I wanna see my smiling face
On the cover of the »Let’s Filk About«

We’ve got a keyboard that does organ cello saxophone and fog
and a guitar that was made in Japan.
We’ve learned some dirty old Swedish baroque songs,
we’d sing ballads on Cúchulainn’s ban.
We know all minor chords and even some Welsh words
so we can really stand out in a crowd.
We’d wear silk and we’d wear laces if it helped to see our faces
on the cover of the »Let’s Filk About.«

Let’s Filk About – Wanna see my picture on the cover
Lets Filk About – wanna buy twelve copies for my mother
Let’s Filk About – I wanna see my smiling face
On the cover of the »Let’s Filk About«

We sing in voices so clear and with roars you’ll fear,
we make our own songs and we know how to steal.
We’ve got a song that what written by Goethe,
we’ll sing in moods that sound just like you feel.
We’ve got some tales to tell, but there’s no fans who yell,
and when we sing, folks will rather move out.
We’ve tried make-up, we’ve tried squinting, but they still are not printing
Our cover of the »Let’s Filk About.«

Let’s Filk About – Wanna see my picture on the cover
Lets Filk About – wanna buy twelve copies for my mother
Let’s Filk About – I wanna see my smiling face
On the cover of the »Let’s Filk About«

Eine Hymne auf das einzig wahre deutsche Filk-Magazin »Let’s Filk About«
Und nach dem Song hab ich es aufs Cover geschafft!
